  29. First of all, let me say that I'm VERY surprized that PBS accepted the "flaw".
  30. In my experience..... no way! Somebody knew what to kiss..... and when.

  32. I would have assumed there would not be any problems using Abekas video.

  35. The 2 extra lines in toaster/flyer output were a problem at first. Actually
  36. the 2 extra lines were at the bottom of the frame AND they were black (7.5 IRE).
  37. PBS wanted "active" video there. Our fix was/is to run the toaster/flyer 
  38. output into our grassvally switcher. Set up a horzontal wipe (one that
  39. wipes verticlly) so that it sits just above the two blacklines. The lower 
  40. half of the wipe is the output of the toaster/flyer run thru a DVE which
  41. is lowered by two lines. So, the last 2 lines are a repeat of the prev 2 lines.
  42. This was all saved in an "E-mem" on the switcher so it can be called up easily.

  45. the prev 2, I'd have screamed and called them anal retentive.... for sure.

  50. Yes, and there ain't much you can do about it. They act and talk like 
  51. their reasons (for liking or disliking certain equipment)are purely objective.
  52. When in fact, the cost of a piece of gear has a direct influence on the
  53. perceived quality of that gear. I know "engineers" that hate Mackie mixers 
  54. and take every chance to "poo poo" them. I guess they're to inexpensive. 
  55. Best dollar to quality ratio in my opinion but, what do I know?

  62. PVR has SIX extra lines of blanking! I can't believe it. What is DPS
  63. thinking? I guess after all this time, and all the gripping about the 
  64. toaster output, yah-da, yah-da, yah-da. I assumed the PVR output was near
  65. perfect. I don't have a component switcher to do the "fix". I might as well
  66. stay with what I have.
